DHP Presents: WASUREMONO
Support confirmed: TUNGZ
Wasuremono - English translation “something forgotten or left behind". On other days a four-piece Indie/Dream-pop outfit from Bradford-on-Avon, UK.
Wasuremono is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist William Southward, who meticulously creates and records the music in his shed studio. Initially a solo project, William enlisted friends, Madelaine Ryan, and siblings Isaac and Phoebe Phillips, to complete the live band. The atmospheric pop songs filled with four part harmonies, layers of warm fuzzy synths and soundscapes, have hooky melodies and are led by Williams distinctive songwriting and vocals which soar from a warm baritone to full falsetto.
2018 was quite a year for Wasuremono; with the release of their self-titled debut album, Steve Lamacq’s invite to record a live session for BBC 6 Music at the legendary Maida Vale Studios, supporting both the The Flaming Lips and Phosphorescent on tour and playing at iconic venues such as Shepherd’s Bush Empire – no mean feat considering the debut album was conceived and recorded in a garden shed.
Wasuremono’s hotly anticipated second album, ‘Are You OK?’, is out on June 14. Singles ‘Self-Help’, 'Are You OK?' and 'Lonely Type' have been released from the album and picked up by the likes of 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, and Radio 1's Huw Stephens. Dork recently described the release as "...sure to be a riot of synths and fun. A magic combo".
“A marvelous little curio of a record” - Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music.
“What a belter. Current favourite of mine” - Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music.
“More chance of accidentally walking out of the house bollock-naked than forgetting about Wasuremono” - Louder than War.
